Janet (Fancher) Wisneski, 70, of Olivebridge, NY passed away on August 29, 2026 at Westchester Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on June 13,1956 to the late Leonard and Helen Fancher of Hensonville, Janet grew up there, “on the mountain top” and later, West Hurley. She attended Onteora High School, graduating in the class of 1974. Soon thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart Joseph Wisneski of West Hurley.

She lived in Glenford, New York much of her life raising her two children. She was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Reservoir United Methodist Church. She was the Secretary for the West Hurley Board of Fire Commissioners and a volunteer EMT for the West Hurley Rescue Squad for more than 15 years. Janet worked as a secretary in the Onteora Central School District for 25 years and was active in the Onteora Non-Teaching Employees Association. After retiring to Port Orange, Florida, she was a dedicated volunteer at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach.

Janet was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, known for her quiet strength and commitment to family. She instilled in her beloved son the old adage “tough times don’t last, tough people do.” She was very proud of her daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons for all of their accomplishments. She enjoyed baking, gardening and canning her own vegetables. Janet especially enjoyed traveling to casinos and horse racing tracks around the country with her husband. She will be greatly missed by family and friends near and far.

Janet is preceded by her son, Matthew Wisneski, and brother Richard Fancher. Janet is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Joseph Wisneski; her daughter, Jessica Wisneski, son-in-law Brett Fox, grandsons Henry and William Fox of Olivebridge and her sister, Donna Tompkins of Ashland.
