Obituary of C. Joseph Styles

C. Joseph (Joe) Styles, passed away at home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, with his loving wife at his side holding his hand. He was born in Kingston on May 14, 1929 to the late Charles Henry Styles and Lillian Ahl Styles. He attended St. Peter’s School, graduated from Kingston High School in 1948 and attended Moran Business School. He then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 43rd Infantry Division, 206 Field Artillary Batallion and was stationed in Munich, Germany. After returning home, he was employed at IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston, retiring from Kingston in 1989. While in Kingston, he meet his future wife, Jaqueline, who would always be his “Dolly” for the rest of their lives together. They were married on April 29. 1973 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2023. Joe was extremely creative as was shown by his military models and the many unique gardens he created at their home in Stone Ridge. He enjoyed traveling and saw many areas in Europe while stationed in Munich. He and Jaque traveled extensively throughout the United States – visited 46 of the 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska. Joe was a member of Joyce Schirick Post # 1386, VFW and Life member of American Legion Post #150. A special thank you to his personal nurses – Jaante, Teresa, Yvette and special friends from Hospice – Ashley and Sister Maria. He is survived by his wife, his sister, Lillian M. Adams of Port Ewen and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents and baby brother Edward Raymond. Family and friends will be received at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston NY on Tuesday between 4:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory, to the West Point Association of Graduates USMA Attn: Gift Operations 698 Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996-9910. Funeral procession will form on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home then proceed to St. Joseph’s Church, Kingston where a Mass of Christian Burial will be sung at 11:00 am. Burial will full military honors to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kingston.
