Obituary of John Fredrick Larsen

John Fredrick Larsen of Woodland Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his home in Kingston, NY. John was born on December 6, 1936 in Manhattan, NY to the late Knute Helmut and Aili A. (Latvatalo) Larsen and had just celebrated his 78th birthday. Prior to retirement he was a computer chip designer at IBM in Kingston. Fred, as he was know to his family and friends, liked working with his hands as a woodworker, an artist and a gardener and enjoyed fishing and hunting. As an active foster parent for several years, Fred made a significant difference in the impact of the lives of several children. John is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Rizzi) Larsen; son, John F. Larsen ,II of Kingston and daughters, Jennifer Matera, of Kingston and Kathleen Fenchak of State College, PA.; sister, Linda Pahlitzsh of Brentwood, NY; grandchildren, Justin Larsen, Peter and Christina Matera, Kevin, Michael, Lauren and Ryan Fenchak; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday between 5:00-8:00 pm at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston,NY. John's funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home with the Reverend Albert Ahlstrom officiating. Burial to follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
