Joan (Diamond) Garofalo, 92, died peacefully at home, Wednesday, November 13th 2019. Born in Kingston to Louise and Charles Diamond in 1927, she is survived by: a daughter, Lisa and her husband Tony Ottman; a son, Marc Gallagher and his wife Susan; a brother, Henry Diamond of Florida; grandchildren, Liam, David, and MaryEllen,as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Ralph (Firp) Garofalo and siblings: Dorothy Ortlieb, Donald, Jack, Charles, Edward, Mary Kennelly, Gertrude Gallagher and Francis. Joan, a home maker, was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. She was a seamstress for Manhattan Shirt Factory many years ago and also an employee of the Daily Freeman until her retirement. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, in Joan’s name would be appreciated. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the at the Henry J Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm, followed by her funeral service. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband on Monday at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Kingston.
