Walter “Whitey” R. Van Leuven, 90, formerly of Sleightsburg, NY passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston. He was a self-employed mason and worked for the Town of Esopus Highway Department and at the Town of Esopus Dog Kennell. Walter is survived by a sister, Dorothy Guiette of Newburgh, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was one of eight children born to the late Walter H. and Eloise (Tubby) Van Leuven. Brothers and sisters who preceded him in death include Elaine Profiro, Shirley Penny, Eloise Knapp, Ruth, Robert and Richard Van Leuven. Cremation took place at Wiltwyck Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Port Ewen at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY.
