JoAnn Hornbeck

Obituary of JoAnn Hornbeck

JoAnn Hornbeck, 79, passed on May 15, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnn (Styles) was born in Kingston, New York, the third of five children. She graduated from Kingston High School. JoAnn married William B. Hornbeck in 1963 and lived in Kingston, New York. Together they had two sons, William and David. JoAnn was a fabulous homemaker, and devoted wife and mother. She loved having fun with her family and enjoying life. Her smile lit up the room and she was loved by all who knew her! Our dear JoAnn was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She enjoyed fishing and one time she even caught a thirty five pound Striped Bass in the Hudson River! She loved baking and cooking; she loved her numerous pets including a rabbit, a squirrel, her love birds, and many dogs. She was truly an animal lover! JoAnn was always a sun worshiper. She and her twin sister Suzanne would sit in the back yard in the summer and soak up the rays for hours! She loved the sun as much as the plants she cared for. Her joy of gardening was huge. She had the most gentle touch with everything that crossed her path be it human, animal or plant. Going on day trips with her family to Lake Taconic was one of her great joys. JoAnn loved taking day trips with her beloved husband Bill. They would go to Vermont to see the fall leaves, to Cape Cod for weekends, and just taking a drive whenever the mood struck. Going out to dinner with her family was something she really loved. JoAnn worked in the cafeteria at Kingston High School and then later at IBM as a secretary until her retirement. JoAnn is survived by her devoted husband, William, and sons William Mark Hornbeck and wife Aline of West Shokan, and David Scott Hornbeck and wife Bonnie of Saugerties; and grandchildren Karie and Mike Tillett of Georgia, Christopher and fiancée Sara Ingersoll of Kingston, and Rebecca Hornbeck of Baldwinsville; and great grandchildren Taryn, Orion, Macie, Jackson and Daylan; her twin sister, Suzanne Terpening of Florida; her brothers, Robert Styles of Connelly and Richard Styles of the Town of Ulster; and sister Cindy Johansen of Maine.
