Helen Frances Sweeney died September 3, 2021, at Mountainside Nursing Facility, Margaretville, NY, just two months short of her 102nd birthday. Helen was born in Kingston on November 4, 1919 to Michael and Stella Buboltz. She married John Vincent Sweeney in 1941, with whom she celebrated 72 years of marriage before his death in 2014. During her long life, Helen was employed by Jacobsen Shirt Factory, A&P Supermarket and Empire of America Bank from which she retired. She also did volunteer work at Benedictine Hospital and Golden Hill Nursing Facility. Helen was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Parish and was an active member of its Rosary Society, and the Mother’s Club of the former Immaculate Conception School. Helen was also a member of the auxiliaries of the White Eagle Benevolent Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Neher (George), Jane Todd (Ward), Kathleen Kiernan (Donald) and Susan Newell (Donald), thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, grandchildren, Kory and John Boomhower and Kris Kiernan; her brothers, Joseph, John, Leo, Felix, Sylvester and Stanley and sisters, Lucy Lindhurst and Martha Costello. Visitation will be held at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY, on Monday from 5:00 –7:00 pm. Her funeral procession will form on Tuesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home then proceed to the Immaculate Conception Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be sung at 10:00 am. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Immaculate Conception Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home on Monday to recite the Rosary for Helen at 5:30 pm.
