William C. "Bill" Harder, Jr. Obituary

William C. Harder, Jr., 63 of Marbletown, known by all of his family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home on August 10, 2024.

Bill was born on November 21, 1960, to William C. and Margaret R. Harder, the second of their three children. After Bill graduated from Kingston High School in 1979, he went on to study Machine Technology at Ulster County Community College. After graduating, he started his first job at Miron, which later became Cranesville Block Co., as a master mechanic. There was never a piece of machinery he came across that he couldn’t fix.

Bill was a woodsman at heart and was at peace surrounded by woods or in a boat with a fishing pole. He was an avid hunter and there was an unspoken rule to not disturb him during opening week. He was a hard worker and always there to help those in need. His hands were never idle and always had to be tinkering on a car, piece of equipment or building his home.

Above all, Bill loved his family fiercely. He would do anything for his three children and grandchildren. He was always available to lend them a hand, a lesson, an ear, advice and unconditional love.

Bill is survived by his parents, William C. and Margaret R. Harder of Hurley, NY; his brothers, Peter W (Donna) Harder of Hurley, NY; Patrick J (Kathleen) Harder of Kingston, NY; his children, Danielle N. and (George J.) McEvoy of Averill Park, NY, Matthew R. Harder (partner Heather Noon) of Stone Ridge, NY and Lindsay A. Harder (partner Justin Zimmerman) of Tillson, NY; and his grandchildren Olivia J. Harder, Declan C. McEvoy and Eva G. McEvoy; his nieces and nephews, Cody W. Harder, Sarah M. Lindenauer, Rachel P. Harder, Ryan Blatter and Meagan Blatter-Winokur; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Bill. Visitation will be at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home at 261 Broadway, Kingston, on Wednesday August 14 from 5 to 8 PM with a service beginning at 7:30 PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at the Hurley Cemetery at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to The American Heart Association www.heart.org.
