Obituary of Robert Leo Wood

Robert Leo Wood, 79, a resident of Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston, NY passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway, Campus, Kingston. One of seven children, he was born September 2, 1935 in Goshen, NY to the late Joseph Benjamin and Caroline (Meyer) Wood. Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force with a tour in Korea and two tours in Viet Nam then retiring after 20 years of service.. Upon separation form the service, he was a truck driver for Bridge City Distributors for 10 years then retired from Paige Lumber in Poughkeepsie NY after eighteen years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Emma (Jennings) Wood of Mt. Marion, NY whom he married January 7, 1958; a son, Robert Thomas Wood of Kerhonkson; daughters, Emma "Karen" Robinson of Kingston, Donna Weiss of Kingston, Terry Wood of Saugerties and Ruth Wood of Lake Katrine; brother William Wood of CT; grandchildren, great grandchildren. nieces and nephews. Robert was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Leo Wood; bothers, John, James, Richard and Frank Wood and a sister, Marjorie Wood-Walden. Friends and relatives may call Wednesday 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY. Inurnment in the columbarium at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Robert's name to the Patriot's Project, 67 Wurts Street, Kingston, NY 12401.
