Obituary of Rose M Lukaszewski

Rose M. Lukaszewski, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side. Born November 8, 1930 in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late William & Rose (Harbeck) McElrath. Rose lived her entire life in the Kingston area. In happier days, childhood memories included rides in the family car with her brother Fink and sister Bernice. She also fondly recalled wheelbarrow rides through a vacant lot on the way home by her brother Jim. As a teenager she enjoyed roller skating with her friends at the old rink on Cornell St. Rose was a seamstress ion the Kingston garment industry where she learned to love sewing and crocheting. She was also a homemaker and an avid collector of rare dolls, but her favorite pastime was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each Easter Rose opened her home to the entire family, neighbors and friends for a delicious brunch. On January 24, 1951 she married Joseph F. Lukaszewski at the Immaculate Conception Church where they were members. Rose is survived by her husband of 63 years. Also surviving are a daughter, Gail (Ron) Peck of Lake Katrine, a son Joseph (Nancy) of Palm Coast, FL, a daughter, Christine (Jim) Rioux of Kingston. There are six grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Challen, Jennifer (Eric) Havirlack, Ryan (Maggie) Lukaszewski, Joey (Emily) Lukaszewski, Jaime (Chad) Hyneman and Christopher Rioux There are eleven great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters surviving. Rose's family would like to thank the entire staff at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their extremely caring treatment during these past three years, but especially the staff on floor A2 during the final week when you treated us all with dignity and respect and went the extra mile to make everyone as comfortable as possible. It meant more than you can imagine. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimers Association. This can be done simply at ALZ-ORG or call 1-800-272-3900. Friends and relatives will be received Monday 4-7 pm at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway. Funeral procession will form 9:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home thence proceed to the Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am.
