Obituary of Joan M. Snyder

  Joan M. Snyder of Hurley, passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2017, at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus in Kingston.

  Prior to retirement, Joan worked as an aide within the Kingston Consolidated School District. Joan was a Brownie, Girl Scout and 4-H leader.  She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hurley Fire Company. After retirement Joan and Bob enjoying many years of traveling to different states and countries.

  Survivors include daughters, Deborah Smiseth of Stone Ridge, NY and Karen Burch and her husband James of Oak Hill, FL; son-in-law,

John Kirk of Oxford MA, special nieces Kathleen McLaren and her husband James of Bloomington, Michele Murphy and her husband Brian of Stone Ridge NY; grandchildren, Amanda and Steve Bathrick, Michael Kirk, Samantha and Chris Sabella Jeremy Smiseth; Kaitlyn and CJ Smith great-grandchildren, Trent, Logan, Jude Noah and Lizzie; nieces and nephews.

  Born in Kingston, February 10, 1931, Joan was a daughter of the late John and Clara (Smith) Scharp. Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert W, Snyder; a daughter, Susan S. Kirk and a sister, Elizabeth Gillen.

  Relatives and friends will be received Monday 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY.  Funeral procession will form 9:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home then proceed to St. Joseph’s Church where at 10:00 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be sung. Burial to follow in the Hurley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to the Hurley Rescue Squad, PO Box 181, Hurley, NY 12443.
