My fondest memory of Dr. Zaccheo is when I was admitted to the hospital on an early Friday morning in 1984 for a repeat Cesarean delivery. During the delivery I had to have an emergency hysterectomy. I lost a lot of blood and it was a dangerous delivery, but for some reason I rallied and was walking around hours later. Dr. Zaccheo couldn't believe how well I was doing. On Sunday morning, I asked him if I could go home to be with my family on Easter Day. He said in all his years he had never released anyone this early who'd undergone those procedures but he saw how well I was doing and he said yes, I could go home!! He was a wonderful doctor who put you at ease, I had full confidence in him. My sincere condolences.

I used to joke with Herb that he gave me so many consultations that he was paying for the mortgage on the house we bought from him in 1976, I will never forget his support of me when I first came to Kingston, and helping me establish my practice. He was truly a fine man and an excellent physician setting a standard of excellence for the practice of OB/GYN in this community. There were colleagues who I considered being "the good guys," Herb was one of them.
Kayla and I extend our sincerest, heartfelt condolences to you, Marge and your family.

To The Family of Dr. Zaccheo,
My sincere sympathy to you as you go through this difficult time. My Mother and I were both his patients, and he delivered my sister in 1971.
My Mother had been a patient of Dr. LaGalbo
and I remember her hating to make the change
and to see a different doctor, and how pleased she was once she met Dr. Zaccheo and he helped her through a very difficult pregnancy. In fact when it was time for me to see someone the first time there was no question in terms of who I would go to.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time. I can only imagine how much you will miss him.
Most Sincerely, Claire A Hannis

Dear Marge and family,
How do I begin to describe what a wonderful doctor, Dr Zaccheo was? He delivered all 4 of my children. I remember how scared I was when I was pregnant with my first Son. Dr Zaccheo and his nurses & staff all made me feel much more comfortable! My first child was born in 1981, my 2nd in 1985, 3rd in 1988 and my last child in 1993. The first three were all natural births, however, my last child, a Son, was born via Emergency C Section on Christmas Eve. I was very scared, however, Dr Z put my mind at ease and I knew I was in good hands. After his birth, Dr Z had told me that he was going to retire. He asked if I was considering anymore children and I told him since he was retiring, I was as well, lol. He had a good laugh with that one! I will always remember his compassion, along with his staff as well. They were all very sweet and loving.
My thoughts, love and prayers to all of the family. Thank you for the gift of such a wonderful man. May he rest in peace.

To the Zaccheo Family: I read with great sadness of Dr. Zaccheo's death. Such a wonderful doctor. He was my GYN doctor and helped bring both of our children into this world. When he retired it was like I had lost a personal friend. He was always so concerned and listened to me when we discussed my health after my checkup. I will never forget what a wonderful doctor he was to me personally when I had postpartum depression after our first child. He worked with me for nine long months and finally it was over. I don't think I would have made it without him and I told him that. He told me he was glad he could help me. My deepest sympathy to all at this very sad time as you say goodbye to a very great doctor and a wonderful man. Sincerely, Elaine Ferraro

So, so sorry to hear of Dr. Zaccheo's passing & ur loss. He was such a wonderful doctor, man & person. I was a patient from 1979 to 1995, & he was a very thorough, competent, & compassionate physician. Doctors today do not have the commitment or genuine spirit Dr. Zaccheo possessed. Although medicine has changed greatly since he retired, you could not get better care than with Dr. Zaccheo. He delivered my daughter Nov. 1981 & believe he hunted the day I was discharged on Thanksgiving Day. His nurses were a wonderful part of his staff, and I always felt like I was in good hands at his practice. They made a great team which would be hard to match today with managed care at the helm. Dr. Zaccheo stood out as a warm yet very professional physician. He was always kind & respectful, and delivered some 60 babies the month my child was born. He was a precious gem and gift to Kingston, NY & Benedictine Hospital, and one of a kind. I feel lucky to have had him as my doctor. The angels will have a special place in Heaven for him & welcome him with open arms.

Dr. Zaccheo was such a kind and wonderful man. He was an amazing doctor that I had trusted him to deliver both of my children. I had lived in Orange County and would not even consider going to anyone else but him. I remember the waiting room would always be packed and the wait would sometimes be an hour or longer and that was with an appointment, but it was well worth it. I am so saddened about his passing and I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones. Rest in peace Dr. Zaccheo you were a treasure to many of us.

My memories and musings of Dr. Herbert A Zaccheo.
Delivering my boys via c section .
Telling me I had the abs of a football player( during an exam, mind you. )
Walking the floors of the maternity unit at all hours .
“In bed, pads down”
Driving us nurses home in snow storms . Also picking us up for work .
Asking me if my son was in college , when I asked for yet another prescription for mastitis ( he was 6 months old).
Seeing my very first delivery in nursing school by Dr Zaccheo in the PH.
His trust in our judgment as nurses.
The parties at the Lake Katrine Rod and Gun club .
Making sure he was in the office before going for in for check ups ....and if he wasn’t, then asking how many cms she was before even going .
The smell of his pipe
His humor and sarcasm.”How are you today?’ “Grumpy”
Asking Vinnie to bring me dead pheasants to make earrings from the feathers( they were dead anyway)
How he treated the staff like family .
Getting to know his family (Hey Vinnie! Genesis)
His lovely wife Marge.
I’m sure I’ll think of more.
Peace and love to your family. You will be missed
