Jim was a smart, talented friend, with whom I had the good fortune to work for a few months at IBM Boca in 1996. The attitude and capability he demonstrated there daily earned him immediate and universal respect. It was a privilege to work with him, as much for his natural leadership and effortless way of making friends as for his take-no-prisoners approach to life and just-this-side-of-scary, infectious, convivial gusto. I always admired his gifts, intellectual as well as artistic; I am richer for having been his friend, and poorer for his loss. He will be missed.
